1. Overview

Veild ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our browser extension ("Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Our core principle: We process your code entirely on your device. No source code, secrets, or clipboard content is ever transmitted to our servers.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Information

To use the Service, you must create an account. We collect:

  • •Email address: Required for account creation, authentication, and communication
  • •Account preferences: Your settings and preferences synced across devices

2.2 Data We Do NOT Collect

Veild does not collect, transmit, or store:

  • •Your source code or clipboard content
  • •API keys, passwords, credentials, or secrets detected in your code
  • •Personal information detected during redaction (names, addresses, phone numbers)
  • •Browsing history or website content
  • •Usage analytics, telemetry, or behavioral data

3. Data Stored Locally

The extension stores the following data locally in your browser using chrome.storage. This data never leaves your device:

  • •User preferences: Extension settings (protection enabled, notification preferences, obfuscation level)
  • •Replacement mappings: Temporary mappings between redacted placeholders and original values, stored only for the duration of your browser session to enable copy-paste restoration
  • •Usage statistics: Aggregate counts (total redactions, per-platform usage) stored locally for your personal dashboard

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • •Provide and maintain the Service
  • •Authenticate your account
  • •Sync your preferences across devices
  • •Communicate important updates about the Service
  • •Respond to your inquiries and support requests

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Third-Party Services

Veild integrates with the following third-party services:

  • •Supabase (Authentication): We use Supabase for secure user authentication. Your email is stored on Supabase servers. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
  • •AI Platforms: When you paste into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity, the redacted (sanitized) content is sent to those platforms per their respective privacy policies. Veild's purpose is to remove sensitive data before this transmission. We are not responsible for how these platforms handle your data.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • •All code processing occurs locally on your device
  • •Authentication uses industry-standard secure protocols
  • •We minimize data collection to only what is necessary

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. Local browser storage is cleared when you uninstall the extension or clear browser data.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable EU law, you have the right to:

  • •Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • •Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • •Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • •Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format

9. Verification

You can verify our privacy claims by inspecting the extension's network activity in your browser's Developer Tools (Network tab). During normal operation, you will see:

  • •Zero requests to Veild servers containing your code
  • •Authentication requests to Supabase (for login only)
  • •Requests to AI platforms containing only redacted content

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
